Somatro

Terms of sale and use

Who we are

Somatro is a trading name of Anwar Hasan, a sole trader.

Geographic address: 20 Firshill Close, Sheffield, S4 7BL, United Kingdom.

Contact: support@somatro.net. Somatro has no company number and is not VAT registered.

What you are buying

A licence to use the Somatro player software on one television (Android TV, Google TV or Amazon Fire TV). There is no account or sign-in: the licence belongs to the television, identified by its Device Reference (Settings › About).

Somatro licenses its player software only. It does not sell or supply channels, IPTV subscriptions, films, series, sports or any other media, and it does not supply or provide playlists. It does not endorse any content or service provider. Somatro is not responsible for whether third-party content is available or lawful. You must be authorised to access whatever you add to the app.

Trial and plans

7-day free trial. Each eligible television can have one 7-day trial. It starts only when you start it on the television — opening the app never starts it. No payment details are needed. Somatro's server time decides when the trial begins and ends. Somatro keeps a minimum record of each television's trial so that it is not offered a second one (see the Privacy page). A television that cannot be identified reliably may not be offered a trial and goes straight to purchase.

There are two ways to buy. They are different, so please check which one you are choosing:

£9.99 a year, auto-renewing. You pay £9.99 now and the same amount each year on the same date until you cancel. It is never a one-off payment. You can cancel future renewal at any time at somatro.net/manage. That address opens Stripe's own customer portal login page: you enter the email address you paid with, Stripe sends you a link, and you cancel in the portal. Cancelling stops future renewals only; the licence you have already paid for continues to the end of the paid period. The price you agreed stays while the subscription remains continuously active.

£11.99, fixed one year. You make one payment of £11.99 for one year of use. It does not renew and there is nothing to cancel. When the year ends the television asks for a new licence, and you can buy again for another year.

If an automatic renewal payment fails. Somatro may allow up to 14 days for the payment problem to be corrected before the licence is ended or restricted. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Prices are shown again before you pay. New prices apply to new licences, and to licences that ended or were cancelled and later restarted. Prices are in pounds sterling. Somatro is not VAT registered, so VAT is not charged.

Payment

Somatro does not store customers' full payment-card details. Payments are processed by Stripe and/or the payment provider used at checkout. Somatro may keep transaction IDs, payment status, amount and date, for accounting, licensing, refunds and disputes. Any receipt or payment notice you receive comes from the payment provider, whose own terms and privacy policy apply to what it holds.

Your right to cancel and refunds

If you ask within 14 days of your first payment, you can have a refund of that payment. The Refund and cancellation policy explains how, and also covers cancelling auto-renew, other refund requests and card disputes. Nothing in the policy limits your statutory rights.

Third-party playlists and services

Somatro does not control the playlists, streams, servers, programme guides, sign-in systems or other services that you add to the app, or the internet connection, metadata providers, and payment and infrastructure services that Somatro and the app rely on.

We do not guarantee any third-party IPTV service, playlist address, internet connection, metadata provider, payment provider or infrastructure provider; that every stream, codec, format or provider will work; or that a third-party service will stay available, compatible with Somatro, accurate or complete. We do not promise that Somatro's online services will be available 100% of the time.

Problems caused by your internet connection, television, home network, playlist or content provider, or another third-party service are outside Somatro's control.

Nothing in this section excludes a responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for a fault in Somatro itself, or affects your statutory consumer rights.

Sports, programme and channel information

Sports schedules, programme information, artwork and suggested channel matches may be based on third-party data and on information in your own playlists and programme guides. That information may sometimes be incomplete, delayed or incorrect.

A channel suggested for an event is a playback suggestion based on the information available to Somatro. It is not a guarantee that the channel will carry the event, that the stream will work, or that you have permission to watch it.

Somatro does not provide, or grant rights to, sports broadcasts or any other content.

Personal use

Somatro is supplied for private and personal use. It is not designed or supplied as a commercial broadcasting system, a hospitality system, a public-exhibition system or any other business-critical service.

If you use Somatro for a business or commercial purpose, then to the extent the law allows we are not responsible for loss of profit, revenue, business or opportunity, or for business interruption, arising from that use.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

What we may do if these rules are broken is set out in "Suspending or revoking a licence".

One licence per television

There is one licence per television (one device record). A licence works on the television that activated it and cannot be moved by you.

Reinstalling on the same television. If you reinstall Somatro or clear its data on the same recognised television, the licence carries on automatically and no new licence or trial is created. Somatro confirms this using the television's own secure hardware identity. The Android ID, make and model on their own never move a licence.

When it cannot be confirmed. If the service cannot confirm it is the same television — for example after a full factory reset, or if what the television reports does not match — the licence is not moved and the television says that licence recovery through support is needed. Nothing about the licence changes in the meantime.

Support review (restoring or re-associating a licence). Contact support with the old and new Device References and tell us what happened (for example the television was reset, repaired or replaced). Support compares the records of both televisions, including whether the old one is still in use, and decides whether to move the licence under Somatro's recovery rules. A move is made in one step: the licence then works only on the new television, the old television stops using it at once, and the move is recorded. We do not promise unlimited transfers.

Devices and compatibility

Somatro is designed for the supported platforms and versions stated on somatro.net.

We do not promise compatibility with every television or Android device, every playlist or provider set-up, every media format or codec, or every third-party server.

Device manufacturers, operating-system providers and third-party services may make changes outside Somatro's control that affect compatibility.

We may stop supporting obsolete or insecure operating-system or app versions where reasonably necessary for security, compatibility or reliability.

Nothing in this section affects your statutory consumer rights.

Downloads and updates

Somatro is available only from somatro.net. A copy from anywhere else is not ours.

Online services and updates

Some Somatro features depend on Somatro's online services, including starting a trial and checking a licence.

We may temporarily restrict or suspend those services where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or circumstances outside our reasonable control. We will take reasonable steps to keep any interruption as short as practicable.

We may require a supported version of the Somatro app to connect to Somatro's online services where reasonably necessary for security, compatibility or reliability.

This does not let us switch off a paid licence at will; ending a licence is covered only by "Ending a licence" and "Suspending or revoking a licence".

Changes to Somatro

We may update, replace, add or remove features where reasonably necessary to improve Somatro, maintain security or reliability, respond to changes made by operating systems, device manufacturers or third-party services, prevent abuse, comply with the law, or keep Somatro compatible.

Minor technical, security and compatibility changes may be made without advance notice.

If a change materially affects the core functionality of a paid licence, we will give reasonable notice where practicable and provide any remedy the law requires.

Nothing in this section affects your statutory consumer rights.

Changes to these terms

Somatro may update these Terms for future purchases and renewals. Where a material change affects an existing customer, Somatro will provide reasonable notice where required. Changes required by law, security or to prevent abuse may take effect sooner where reasonably necessary. Changes do not remove statutory rights, and we will not remove, retrospectively, a benefit you have already paid for.

Ending a licence

A licence ends:

Chargebacks and reversed payments

If a payment is reversed, refunded or successfully charged back, Somatro may revoke or suspend the licence associated with that payment, subject to applicable law. We do not charge fees for this. Please contact support first if there is a problem with a payment — it is usually quicker to sort out that way.

Suspending or revoking a licence

Somatro may suspend or revoke a licence where reasonably necessary because of:

We will act proportionately. For a breach that can be put right, we will normally give you a reasonable opportunity to do so first. We will not suspend or revoke a licence for any other reason. Any refund or other remedy the law requires still applies, and your statutory rights are not affected.

Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or our failing to use reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for losses outside our reasonable control, including those caused by a content provider, playlists, your internet connection or home network, third-party outages, streams that Somatro does not support, unlawful use, or your own set-up or equipment — except where the loss was also caused by a fault for which Somatro is legally responsible.

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, or for business losses as described in "Personal use".

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or affects the customer's statutory consumer rights.

Events outside our reasonable control

We are not responsible for delay or interruption caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as widespread internet or cloud-service outages, failures of third-party platforms, government action or major infrastructure failures. We will take reasonable steps to restore affected Somatro services.

Transfer of the Somatro business

We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms as part of a sale, transfer or reorganisation of the Somatro business, provided that doing so does not reduce your rights under these terms.

Your statutory rights

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of any mandatory rights you have under the law applicable to you, including any mandatory right to bring proceedings in another court available to you under applicable law.
