Install on Fire TV or Android TV
Somatro is supplied directly by us for Android TV, Google TV and Amazon Fire TV. The download page walks through it on screen, step by step.
Somatro 1.0 is not released yet. When it is: on Fire TV, install it with the free Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore: allow Downloader to install unknown apps, then enter the Downloader code shown on the download page. On Android TV or Google TV, use the browser or downloader app your television already has, and allow the install when it asks.
On Fire TV: install the free Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore, open it and enter the Downloader code 7326459 (or get.somatro.net). If Fire TV says Downloader is not allowed to install apps, choose Settings and switch on Install unknown apps for Downloader. Cannot find it? Look under Settings › My Fire TV › Developer options. If Developer options is missing, go to Settings › My Fire TV › About and click the device name 7 times.
On Android TV or Google TV: open the browser or downloader app your television already has, go to get.somatro.net, and allow the install when it asks.
Start your trial, or activate
The first time you open Somatro, it offers a 7-day free trial; you choose when to start it. To keep using Somatro after that, the TV shows an activation code. Enter it at somatro.net/activate, or scan the QR code on the TV, and choose £9.99 a year (auto-renew) or £11.99 for a fixed year. The TV picks up the licence by itself.
Activate a televisionAdd your playlist
Somatro brings no channels. Add the playlist your provider gave you, in one of two ways.
On the TV: Settings › Playlists › Playlist sources › Add Playlist. Choose M3U Playlist for a link, or Xtream Codes for a server, username and password.
From a browser: on the TV, open Settings › Playlists › Playlist sources › Pair with browser. Then go to somatro.net/manage-playlists and type the code shown. You can add, edit, rename, reorder and remove sources with a keyboard. Keep the pairing screen open on the TV while you do.
You can keep more than one playlist and switch between them. For programme information, add an EPG (XMLTV) guide under Settings › Live TV & EPG › EPG sources. Favourites, reminders, a Settings PIN, and Create backup and Restore backup are all in the User Guide.
Manage playlists in a browserFind your way around
Live TV and the guide for your channels. Arena for today's fixtures and matches, and where to watch them in your playlist. Films, series and your own library.
What the common messages mean
“That code has expired”
Codes last only a few minutes. Look at the TV for a fresh one.
“We couldn't connect using that code”
Type the code exactly as the TV shows it (like K7DM-4P2Q), and keep the pairing screen open.
“Your television has not picked that up yet”
The TV didn't collect the change in time. Keep Pair with browser open on the TV and try again.
“Sent to your television, but we couldn't confirm the result”
The change probably reached the TV. Check your sources list before trying again, so nothing is added twice.
“Couldn't import this playlist”
The details were saved, but nothing could be read from them. Check with your provider; the link may have expired or the account may have lapsed.
“Too many attempts”
Wait a few minutes, then try again.
“This is temporary” or “We could not reach Somatro”
A connection or service hiccup. Wait a moment and try again. Nothing on your TV has changed.
Paid, but the TV hasn't noticed
See Activation & licenceStuck at any step?
The TV shows a code, the website does the rest
Enter the code shown on the television — or scan the activation code on screen and the television is identified for you.
Go to activationOne licence covers one television
A licence stays with the television it activated. It is not moved to another physical device.
Paid, but the TV hasn't noticed
Somatro checks on its own. Leave the app open for a moment; if nothing changes, send us the Device Reference from the television.
The code has expired
Codes only last a short while. Look at the television again — it will be showing a fresh one.
Include the Device Reference from the television. Never post it publicly.
A payment was declined
Nothing is charged and nothing is activated when a payment fails. Try again, or use another card. If a yearly renewal fails, your TV keeps working for 14 days while the card is tried again.
What a licence costs
£9.99 a year on auto-renew: cancel any time, and the TV keeps working to the end of the year you’ve paid for. Or £11.99 for one fixed year: no renewal, nothing to cancel. One television per licence. Prices are shown again before you pay.
Your price while you stay
On auto-renew, the price you agreed stays as long as the subscription remains continuously active. New prices apply to new licences, and to licences that expired or were cancelled and later restarted.
Refunds
Ask within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund that payment, with no reason needed. When we refund it, that licence is revoked straight away. The free 7-day trial is never charged. The full wording is in the Refund policy; write to support@somatro.net with your Device Reference.
Card details
Payments are handled by our payment provider. Somatro does not see or keep your card details, and will never ask for them in a message.
Manage or cancel auto-renew
Our payment provider, Stripe, sends a one-time link to the purchase email. Cancelling stops the next renewal only. Your television keeps working until the date it is paid up to.
Where Somatro comes from
Somatro is supplied directly by us for Android TV, Google TV and Amazon Fire TV. The download page shows the current version and guides the install on screen.
Open downloadsKeeping it up to date
Somatro tells you on the television when a newer version is ready, and updating keeps your sources, ordering and settings exactly as they are.
Check for updates yourself
On the television, open Settings › About › Check for updates and choose UPDATE NOW. Your sources, ordering and settings stay as they are. If the update will not install, turn on Install unknown apps for Somatro. On Fire TV it can sit under Settings › My Fire TV › Developer options; if Developer options is missing, click the device name 7 times under Settings › My Fire TV › About.
The download stopped
Start it again from the download page. If your television refuses the install, the download page has the on-screen steps for your device.
Somatro is not in a TV app store yet
For this release you get Somatro from us. Anything claiming to be Somatro elsewhere is not from us.
Channels are missing
Refresh the source. Somatro shows what your source provides at the time it was last read — if the source changed, a refresh brings the new list in.
A source won't load
Check the source is still active with your provider, then re-enter it. Managing sources in a browser is easier than typing on a remote — from your phone, or any computer.
Manage playlistsGuide information is empty
Guide data comes from your source. Where a source carries none, Somatro shows “No guide information” rather than inventing it.
Never send us your credentials
We never need your playlist password, provider username, or the full private link to your playlist. Do not include them in a message, a screenshot or a public post.
The picture keeps stopping
Buffering nearly always comes from the connection between your television and your source. Try a wired connection, or another channel from the same source, to see whether it is the source or the network.
No sound, or the wrong language
Open the player's audio options and choose another track. Somatro offers what the stream carries — nothing is renamed or translated.
Subtitles do not appear
Subtitles have to be present in the stream or file. Where they are, they can be turned on and styled in Playback settings.
A “Playback problem” message with a code
The top line shows a code such as PL-06. Choose Try again first. The codes: PL-01 the stream did not start in time. PL-02 this stream cannot be played on this device. PL-03 the provider refused the request (refresh your playlist). PL-04 the source is not available right now. PL-05 the decoder stopped. PL-06 the connection was lost. PL-09 could not continue after a pause. PL-10 your provider’s connection limit was reached. PL-11 cannot reach your provider’s server. PL-12 video stalled on this device.
PL-06: check your internet (wired is steadier), then Try again. PL-10: wait a moment, your provider is still counting your previous stream. PL-12: try another channel, and if it keeps happening restart your Fire TV. The User Guide has every code in full.
The provider is slow
Somatro waits for your provider and retries by itself. If the screen stays on “Connecting”, give it a little while; after about 15 seconds it says “This channel isn’t responding” and you can Try again or pick another channel. A long wait can also mean your provider is still counting your previous stream.
If other channels play normally, the slow one is at the provider’s end. If everything is slow, try a wired connection, or set Settings › Playback › Stream buffer to Stable (it starts on Auto).
The screen goes black for a moment when I change channel
That is Match frame rate, which asks your television to match each channel’s frame rate. It is off by default. Turn it off in Settings › Playback, or set your Fire TV to 50Hz instead.
Somatro closed unexpectedly
Reopen it and tell us what you were watching when it happened — a bug report with that detail is worth a great deal.
A photo of the screen helps. Crop anything private first.
Does Somatro provide channels or films?
No. Somatro is a player. You bring your own sources, and Somatro presents what they carry.
Which devices does this release support?
Android TV, Google TV and Amazon Fire TV. Somatro is supplied directly by us rather than through a TV app store.
What does a licence cost, and what does it cover?
£9.99 a year on auto-renew, or £11.99 for a fixed year. One licence covers one television. Cancel auto-renew any time and it runs to the end of the paid year. The fixed year has no renewal, so there is nothing to cancel.
Do I need an account?
No. A television is activated with the code it shows on screen. Stripe takes the payment and emails your receipt, renewal reminders and any failed-payment notice to the address you give at checkout; Somatro’s own purchase record keeps no email address.
What does Arena actually do?
Arena brings the night's live sport together — fixtures, competitions, teams and fights — and shows which of the channels you already have is carrying each one.
Can I move my licence to a new television?
A licence stays with the television it activated. If your television has been replaced or repaired, tell us what happened and we will look at it.
Does Somatro track what I watch?
No. Somatro never sees what you play. To show film and series details, the app sends only the title and year, and we don't record which titles your TV looks up.
How do I install Somatro?
Somatro comes straight from us, not from a TV app store. On Fire TV, install the free Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore and enter the Downloader code 7326459 (or get.somatro.net). If Fire TV says Downloader is not allowed to install apps, choose Settings and switch on Install unknown apps for Downloader. On Android TV or Google TV, open get.somatro.net in your browser or downloader app and allow the install when asked.
Where is “Install unknown apps” on my Fire TV?
On some Fire TVs it sits under Settings › My Fire TV › Developer options. If you do not see Developer options, go to Settings › My Fire TV › About and click the device name 7 times. Developer options then appears.
How long is the free trial?
7 days. You start it yourself, there is one trial per device, it needs no payment details, and nothing is charged when it ends.
How do I cancel auto-renew?
Go to somatro.net/manage. It opens Stripe’s customer portal sign-in, which sends a one-time link to the email used for the purchase. Cancelling stops the next renewal only: your television keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for. The £11.99 fixed year never renews.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Ask within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund that payment, with no reason needed. See the Refund policy at somatro.net/refund.
Can I add more than one playlist?
Yes. Add M3U links or Xtream logins under Settings › Playlists › Playlist sources › Add Playlist, or from a phone or computer with Pair with browser. Switch playlists in Live TV (Playlist) and in Movies and Series (Source). Add a TV guide under Settings › Live TV & EPG › EPG sources.
How do I update Somatro?
Open Settings › About › Check for updates on the television and choose UPDATE NOW. Your playlists, settings and licence stay as they are.
What do the PL codes mean?
A “Playback problem” message shows a code such as PL-06 (the connection was lost), PL-10 (your provider’s connection limit was reached) or PL-12 (video stalled on this device: try another channel, and restart your Fire TV if it keeps happening). Every code is listed on the Playback page and in the User Guide.
What do “Verified on your playlist” and “Possible channel match” mean in Arena?
“Verified on your playlist” means Arena matched a channel in your playlist to the event and is confident in it. “Possible channel match” means a channel might carry it but Arena cannot be sure. “No matching channel found” means none of your channels reliably matches, so nothing plays until you choose one. A Follow pack under Settings › Arena is the easiest way to start.
